Principal's Newsletter

Hello Spartan Families and Visitors,

Welcome to McConnellsburg Elementary School!  We are very excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year.  We look forward to another exciting and fun year of learning.

We welcome back over four hundred thirty students and our amazing teachers and support staff.  We have experienced a few grade level staff changes for the new school year.  First, Mrs Quincy McMath will join us as a new third grade teacher.  Mrs Jennifer Culler, formally in kindergarten, will be moving to first grade this year.  As we have a small incoming 4K class, Mrs Jenna Pilkerton will be providing instructional support to our first and second graders this year.

We are happy to welcome Mrs. Kimberly (Harris) Sain and Ms. Alicia Deshong as our Americorp workers.  In addition, Mrs. Pam Cutchall has moved to kindergarten with Mrs Skiles.

We are so proud to be able to say that we continue to utilize electronic devices for all of our kindergarten through fifth grade students for online instructional experiences.    Our online platforms serve to complement our traditional learning resources and written curriculum, which is aligned to the PA Core Standards.   Our teachers have spent many hours this summer preparing for the use of new reading materials.

Our classroom and liberal arts teachers will continue to focus this year on STEM related activities while continuing to place an emphasis on grade level and individual learning expectations for mathematics and english language arts.   We expect to continue to expand experiences for our children in becoming proficient digital citizens, while maintaining our focus on our students becoming proficient readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and thinkers in a continuously evolving world.

Our goal across the Central Fulton School District is to facilitate the growth of our students as collaborators, caring citizens, creators, contributors, communicators, and critical thinkers while remaining culturally aware and career minded.

We will continue our emphasis on cultivating responsible decision makers in our student learners.  Our theme of the current school year is to emphasize learning adventures while maintaining the principles of kindness and positivity.

We continue to reward positive behavior with a school wide positive behavior program.  We offer our students the opportunity to earn daily, weekly, marking period and year end behavior rewards.   We hope to set an example as energetic learners who are accepting, encouraging and kind school citizens!

We look forward to a productive and successful year with ALL of our Spartan family members.
